What the heck is the King James Version? What makes it different from the normal bible?

The King James Bible was written when James I was king of England. The reason for all the “thou” and “thine” and “willst” is because that is how they spoke in England at that time.
There is no “real Bible.” There are many different kinds of translations: ie. New International Version, King James, Eastern Standard Version. All of them are stylized differently, but they all have the same message.

Corrections by man basically. They took out things they didn’t want and added things they wanted to suit themselves. The original Bible is lost.

It’s by a different publisher, I think there was some controversy because some parts of the original bible were left out in that version.

King James was a King that was the first to translated the bible. The modern NIV is just a translation that is easy to read today.

The king James bible is the mistranslation that king James funded. It has all that neat “shall” and other archaic dialect devices.

The King James version is the version ordered by King James in the 1500s (actually, there was a revised King James as well). It’s the one written in old English.
There is no “normal” Bible. Every sect has it’s own version and its own translation. The Protestant Bibles don’t even have all the same books the Catholic version has.

the main ‘bad’ thing about religion is it’s too often mixed with politics that’s’ one reason for the “King James” version

The King James Version was Translated from the original Greek and Hebrew languages that it was written in under the authority of King James. It is written is “old English” like Shakespeare writings so it’s very poetic and can be more complicated to understand than some other versions.

It’s supposedly the one, true, most unchanged bible. Or at least Jack ***** says so. It’s supposed to be most true and all the evil Satanists and the Illuminati want to stamp out the King James version or something like that.

The King James is a version that was translated from the Original Greek and Hebrew texts of the Holy Bible and the ideal would be that we all speak and read Greek and Hebrew. Alas, we are not all so blessed.
We do however have what is called a CONCORDANCE that can take the english word and translate it back into the original Greek or Hebrew word used in a particular verse so that we can FULLY understand the meaning which God intended when writing the Bible for us through Godly men obedient to His inspireation.

The KJV is the most accurate translation of the Bible from Hebrew and Greek. Any other is misinterpreted somehow

Good question for someone that don’t know squat about religion.
Newer versions leave out verses and try to do away with the diety of Christ, the blood of Christ, and in some verses omitt God.
Most people using the newer Bible versions don’t even realize the changes. Most old bibles are the King James version. So since it has been used for so many years it has long been known as the normal bible.

KJV is just one of many types of bibles – there isn’t exactly a “normal bible”. If you are a christian (or exploring it) and aren’t sure which version of the bible you should read I would suggest downloading e-sword
as it is best to have more than one version at your disposal.
good luck and God bless

The King James Version is missing 7 books from the Bible. They have decided they know more than God so they conveniently threw them out as being non essential.

King James Bible
The first real thorough translation of the Bible into English using as many of the different versions and languages as possible with the best scholarship possible at the time. Translation were matched with the Latin Greek and Hebrew versions of the Old Testament and the Latin and Greek versions of the New Testament. Again, there were small poorly translated versions But this was Made for the new Church of England and was to be the Authoritative version. No expense spared.
The books mentioned above as missing are the Apocrypha and even the Catholics who added them regard them as not part of the Bible, they include stories of Genies, witches and Generally read more like Grimm’s Fairy tales than the rest of the tall tales included in the Bible. They do not seem to be part of the Hebrew Old Testament
the politics of the time did have an effect, the Anglican Church
(Church of England) was going up against the Catholic Church and could not afford to have errors in its version of the Bible, that would have been instant death in the battle for religious control over England. The religious battles were still being fought with swords and cannons then, with losers often burned alive as heretics, by both sides. Not much room for mistakes in the meaning of a word.

King James wanted to do things that the bishops of his time said he couldn’t do because they were against Gods words and commandments.
He finally got tired of this and found a monk that was Willing to change the words an commandments and/or eliminate those verses that KING JAMES didn’t like so he could tell the bishops to go to h… and do as he wished.for personal gain.
A BIG NO-NO in any religion .

King james translated the manuscripts correcly, it holds up to the scrolls,(the real bible, ancient text that they wrote) And with the king james you can take every word and use a concordance and look up the origanl! Thats Good!
But if you dont know sqawt let me help you with the basics! First get a New International bible first! ”NIV” its called. It at first when you first start reading the word of God, or bible, thats what it is, the VERY WORD OF GOD, Now you dont want religion and man made rules , you want to know about God, so your search starts there. Now start reading in John of the new testament and it is the story of JESUS! And jesus tells us who God is and how to get God to bless you and heal all your wounds and give you a life and not evil! It is glorious to know God! He wants you to know him! The bible is a letter from the God of heaven and HE REVEALS HIMSELF , through his word! Now go get the NIV bible because it is written in todays language but is still reaal close to the manuscripts, but you will get to know the word faster and thats the goal. You need a working knowledge of his word! Why? Because it is the eternal message of Gods salvation to you and me, now I have it, because I read it and have tested it and now I have faith in it! And Faith will get the hand of God to move for his child , you!
Now, go read John and get to know Jesus, what he said and done, its a secret message from outside of time or our earthly relm, it comes from God himself and it is a love letter to you, his child! Good luck. any questions email and I will help you get to know and short cut your process.God bless!
Its not religion you want, religion is a set of man made rules designed to make you captive, you want a living relationship with God the creator and you find it in the bible through his word!Once you start this relationship with him, he sends his HOLY SPIRIT INTO YOU, and thats what we call being BORN AGAIN! His spirit blesses your life. acts ch.2 pentacost!

I don’t know what the difference is. Maybe a different author or version….and what does it matter?
If one bible says “Thou shalt”…and the other version of the same text says “You should”….is it relevant to the meaning of the text? Does the truth cease to exist because the message is re-phrased?
I’m glad you asked this question…because the message in the Bible is difficult enough for everyone to believe in….but to argue over what version of the book a person is reading is taking things just a bit too far for my tolerance.
God exists….Jesus existed and taught the message of “love”…that is too much for the world to agree on. What’s with people who need to point out faults that are so small that a microscope is required to find the real difference?
Excellent question! Once again we see why Christianity is mocked by so many people.

it is more than 400 years old, and the language in it is quite beautiful, almost like poetry. There are parts that changed when they modrnized the book, and it just doesn’t have the same impact any more.
